Are you looking to invite your friends over for an epic Eurovision Song Contest viewing party? Get my top tips on how to host the best Eurovision party that will leave your guests amazed by more than just the show!

There’s nothing quite like the glitter, drama, and chaos of Eurovision. Whether you’re a longtime fan or just love a good excuse for a themed party, Eurovision is the perfect night to go all out.
If you ask me, Eurovision is about much more than just watching a show. It’s a celebration of music, which should be enjoyed with friends.
With a little planning, you can throw a party that’s as memorable as the most outrageous entry of the night – no matter your budget. Here’s how you do it:
Invitations
First of all, it’s important to get the hype going early. Invites should be sent out at least a week in advance, but ideally sooner. By giving an early heads-up, your guests have plenty of time to make their arrangements and prepare their outfits.
Personally, I like sending digital invitations. You can easily create a fun invite using Canva – or use mine here. What’s important is that the invitation sets the tone of the evening and that you include all important details either on the invitation or in the accompanying message.
Your invite/message should cover the date and time of the event, your address and some notes on the dress code. Remind people the show is live, so punctuality matters!
Examples from my invite
When: 17.05.25 from 7.30 pm (the show starts at 9 pm)
Where: Our place ([address])
Dress code: Fancy dress is optional, but encouraged (think sparkles, glam, colours and fun) ✨
Outfits
If you’re into fashion, Eurovision night is your time to shine – literally or figuratively. Sequins, feathers, colours, and more all fit within the Eurovision dress code.
Remember to encourage guests to dress up, whether they represent a country, channel a past contestant, or just wear something gloriously glittery. As the host, you should set an example by really going all out.
A few ideas:
- Go full glam in ABBA-style flares.
- Dress like a flag (literal or inspired).
- Add a prize for best outfit to make sure people bring their A-game.

Decor
In addition to wearing a fabulous outfit, you should also dress up your home for the occasion. Think flags, gold, fairy lights, confetti, balloons and overall “more is more”.
Luckily, you don’t need to spend loads to get it done. Start by checking what you already have, maybe some Christmas decor or leftover balloons can do the trick? DIY and printables go a long way. Just prepare mentally to clean up glitter the morning after…
Food & Drinks
A Eurovision party is not the time to order a pizza and call it a night. The event deserves a proper spread, ideally with a true mix of nationalities represented.

I personally prefer tapas/finger food so that it is easy to snack without needing cutlery.
Some ideas:
- Swedish meatballs
- Greek spanakopita
- Italian antipasti
- Spanish tortilla
- British crisps and so on
Exactly what you want to dish up is up to you – or your guests. If you don’t want to have to cover it all yourself, you can ask each guest to bring a dish or drink from a participating country!
Tip: Label everything with mini flags and/or country names for extra flair.
For drinks, make sure to have a mix of alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. Decide whether you want to have an open bar or BYOB. Also consider serving a special Eurovision cocktail or mocktail.
Entertainment
You might think that the Eurovision show is enough entertainment in itself, but there are plenty of ways to make the event even more fun. To host the best Eurovision party, I recommend introducing some games and/or competitions such as the following:
- Drinking games: Make up rules on when to drink, for example every time there’s a modulation.
- Scorecards: Let guests give their own points and pick their personal top five. The person with the most correct score, can get a prize.
- Bingo: “Pyro”, “awkward interview”, “wind machine” etc… tick off clichés as they happen and see if anyone gets BINGO.
These are just a few ways to ensure that your guests stay engaged throughout the whole show, even the ones who might not be the biggest fans of ESC. The games can all be hosted without much props or preparation needed. Simply create or buy a Eurovision party printout bundle to print and hand out.
Conclusion
Eurovision is all about fun and chaos. Whether you’re hosting for two or twenty, the most important thing is enjoying the madness together. With the help of some glittery decorations and outfits, delicious snacks and fun games, you can host a Eurovision party that’s fun for everyone.
